Priestley Family Vacation 2010

The 10th Annual Priestley Family Vacation was held at Adventureland Park and Adventureland Inn during the July 10th weekend. This was our second time meeting there since it really seems to have so many options for all of the different interests: amusement park fun, several indoor pools with slides and a swim-up bar, pool-side hotel rooms for adult beverages and snacks for the kids, and Bass Pro Shop and Prairie Meadows Casino nearby. Our family continues to grow with 18 adults, 10 kids and 2 more on the way.

The weekend festivities started on Friday evening with dinner and bowling at Bass Pro Shop. Carter was a little naughty at dinner and kept crawling under the tables and running from table to table to see Grandma Marcia and Papa Bill. So since we had to follow-through with our threat, he was not allowed to bowl with the other kids. Mean parents. After bowling, we all went back to the hotel and swam almost until the pool closed. Cary was definitely the hit of the pool - those kids love him!

On Saturday, we hit up Village Inn for breakfast and then walked over to Adventureland. This was the highlight of the weekend. Since there are so many of us, we really can't go as a huge group. So Carter and Katelyn mainly rode rides together, and sometimes we had Jenna with us too. I think the favorite rides were the Frog Jumper, the lady bugs, and the train. Carter even went with the "big boys" on the Log Ride. They waited in line for 40 minutes, decided to put Carter in the front, and I think he was the only one that came out wet. Nice strategy, guys! :)

By 3:00, we were all exhausted and naps were definitely needed! Things went downhill from there for the Coppola clan. To sum it up, I had a kidney stone, drove myself to the pharmacy, backed into another car in the parking lot, had to call Cary and my mom for a ride, and ended up leaving the PFV to go home and lay on the couch the rest of the evening. Unfortunately, the kidney stone drama doesn't end there - but that's another post. We were bummed to miss the rest of the evening and a special "Welcome to the Family" party for our newest family member - Ellie. My cousins Matt and Kari just adopted her from China and she is the sweetest little thing. We heard that she loved her party and I was so sad to miss it!
So although we had to cut our trip short, we had a great day and a half with my family! Can't wait for next year! Thanks, Grandma Phyllis!!!!!
