Introducing....

Brynn Marie Coppola
November 3, 2010
2:30 pm
7 lbs. 1 oz

She's finally here! Actually, as I write this, Brynn is 8 days old - almost to the hour! Anyone with children knows that things can get a little hectic with a new addition to the family. So, needless to say, I'm a little behind on this post!

Everything with labor and delivery went extremely well. Cary actually took notes of what was happening throughout the entire day. I'm so glad he did this...it's fun to look back upon the day with so many details. Here's Brynn's birth day schedule from Cary's point of view:

12:40 (am) Met the nurse, Jen, she is republican...I like her.
12:50 Ali is filling out paperwork. Talked about antibiotics and epideral.
12:58 Ali has mentioned the desire of an epideral and antibiotics now 10 times. :)
1:02 Jen said we will be having the baby, the pitocin works nearly all the time.
1:30 Jen likes the name Brynn, but just told us it has been a common name lately.
1:35 We decided to wait a little longer on the antibiotic, due to it hurting every 4 hours. We are going to wait until there is more news.
1:47 First check, Jen says Ali is a 1.5 and 80% effaced. Pill is in place. She is "totally breakable."
2:00 Bed time for all.
2:30 Neither of us can sleep, Ali is playing solitaire.
3:00 Both still awake.
3:30 Asleep.
6:07 Pitocin and antibiotics started, the nurse has been telling us the Pen G antibiotic hurts and Ali would definitely agree.
6:20 Pen G complete, and it hurt!
6:26 She is a tight 3.
6:27 Starbucks.
6:44 Ali and Jen have been chatting for the last 20 minutes...mostly about gossipy stuff.
7:20 Met our new nurse Andrea...so far, not a fan.
7:45 Got an update on Carter who is with mom and dad, he was up coughing most of the night.
8:03 Still a 3, but lots of tough contractions.
9:20 Anesthesiologist coming to do the epideral, our nurse is actually very nice now.
9:34 Epidural is in.
10:00 Shower for Cary, you're welcome maternity ward!
10:10 2nd round of antibiotics started, Ali looking sleepy.
11:17 Water broken, back to waiting game.
11:55 Contractions are very regular, Ali doesn't feel a thing.
1:35 She is an 8, we both slept for an hour or so.
2:07 She is complete and ready to push, dad is being a big pussy.
2:16 "I obsessed yesterday over nothing."
2:30 Baby Brynn is here at 7.1 lbs and 19.5"

Welcome to the world, Baby Brynn! We are so happy to have you in our family!

Here are some photos from the day...

This has to be the most awesome account of a birth ever. "She's a republican. I like her." My FAVORITE LINE EVER. Seriously. How did you broach that topic with your nurse? I'm glad the second nurse worked out too. I also like how he recounted the "i obsessed yesterday over nothing" line. Classic Guthrey move, there. We're so happy for the two of you. She is as beautiful as she is lucky.
