Good kids, friends and a waterpark!

It was a great weekend! I was home with the kids on Friday and they were so good.  At the grocery store, Carter helped me put items in my cart and Brynn didn't scream or whine during the whole hour-long trip.  We then went to Backyard Adventures and both kids played so well together.  Carter even wanted to shoot hoops and made quite a few baskets.  Then we came home and both kids took 3 hour naps.  Now that's what I call a great day! Cary met up with some friends after work and so Jess came over for a glass of wine.  So great to catch up!  When Cary got home, we asked our neighbor girl, Cassie, to babysit the kids for an hour so he and I could go out to a quick dinner.  It was so great!  We love Cassie and her brother Joey and they love our kids.  Cassie has been taking babysitting classes and so this was her first real babysitting experience.  She did great and both kids had so much fun with her.  And Cary and I were able to slip away for an hour of one-on-one time.  The perfect way to end an already great day!

The biggest news in our house is that Brynn has started going potty in the potty.  We didn't potty-train Carter until he was 2 1/2, but lately Brynn has been wanting to sit on the potty and says "uh-oh" when she dirties her diaper.  On a whim, we took her diaper off and put her on the potty - and sure enough, she went!  So we brought out the little potty over the weekend and it is definitely a big hit in our house.  I really don't think she's ready to be completely potty-trained - she can't say "potty" or tell us when she needs to go, and I can't imagine her pulling up big-girl pants by herself.  BUT, every time she sits on the potty, she goes.  So...not sure what that means.  We're not pushing anything, but I may be buying some Dora undies before too long. :)

Saturday we hung around the house, Cary did some yard work, my parents' stopped by, and we roasted marshmellows on the fire pit.  Saturday night, Sean and Jess came over for a late dinner.  We had planned to eat outside on the deck, but the rain and 50 degree temps changed our plans.   It was so nice to sit, have some dinner and drinks, and just laugh with them while the kids slept soundly upstairs.  :)

Sunday was a gloomy, drizzly day and we didn't have any plans for the afternoon.  Cary's parents called mid-morning and asked if we would be interested in going to the Ramada waterpark for the afternoon.  They were watching Joey, Maddox and Saylor while Joe and Holly were in DC, so it was the perfect way to spend a chilly afternoon.  I'm not sure if every Sunday is like this, but there was no one there.  Literally 3 other kids in the entire place.  Our kids had a ball!!!  Brynn was totally into the waterslides - the little one by herself and the big ones on my lap.  She got pretty brave by the end. Maddox loved the beach balls in the pool and swimming around with Joey and Carter.  Joey loved playing water basketball and playing with Brynn.  Carter loved being chased by his dad and going down the water slides.  Saylor liked splashing in the water and smiled almost the whole time.  And all of them (minus Saylor,of course) loved the hot-tub.  After 4+ hours of swimming, we went home with two very tired kids and two exhausted parents! :)  Perfect for family movie night (in which I slept for part of it) and a 7:00 bedtime for the kids.  They both slept until 7:30 this morning, so you know they were worn out.

Such a fun weekend!!!  Too bad it's Monday again...
