Family Halloween Night

On Wednesday night, we had our own little Halloween party! Cary came home early from work and the three of us tried to be as festive as possible. First on the list - Halloween sugar cookies.

First we rolled out the dough. Carter kept saying "Carter help!" and so he did.

Then we cut out the cookies in the shape of ghosts and pumpkins. Some had tiny fingerprints in them, but they still looked cute.

Then we baked them...and realized that we'd rolled them a little thin!

We made our white frosting orange and set out the sprinkles and candy.

And then we let the frosting begin! We gave Carter his own plate with frosting on the side, some candy corn, and a cookie. The candy corn were eaten immediately and the cookie was dipped in the frosting!

Carter added some - no TONS - of sprinkles.

And in the midst of it all, he ate several cookies. Bad idea to do this before dinner, by the way!

And ta-dah! Our completed cookies!

Since this was a Fall/Halloween-themed evening, it wouldn't have been complete without apple cider!

And then it was time for the carving of our pumpkins. Carter was interested for about 10 seconds, and then he went to play downstairs by himself; leaving Cary and I to carve our pumpkins by ourselves.

20 minutes later...carved pumpkins! Cary made the really cool "C" which completely impressed me. And I drilled holes in the little one to make stripes down the pumpkin. Mine didn't turn out as cool as I'd hoped, and you can't even really see the light through it. Oh well...

After a quick pizza dinner, we watched Mickey Mouse Halloween Party as Carter snuggled with his best friend - Maddie!

Only 48 hours until Trick-or-Treat time!!!
