This past weekend I went to Iowa City with five of my college friends and sorority sisters. Although most of us live in Iowa, we rarely get the chance to see each other. It seems that our weekends fill up and our lives get so busy, and before we know it months have passed since we've been together. So this time, we set a date on the calendar and made the weekend a priority.
Emily (a newly engaged CPA), Rachel (a married and newly-pregnant CPA), Angie (a newly-in-love chiropractor) and I drove together to Iowa City on Saturday afternoon. When we arrived at the A'Deva salon, we were greeted by Laina (a married mom to 2-year-old Jack) and Amy (a married mom to 1 1/2-year-old Evelyn) and a salon full of yummy food and three stylists ready to pamper us!!! Laina and Amy had arranged for us to have pedicures and manicures while we sipped wine and nibbled on fancy finger food. Yes, I've mentioned the food twice already because it was soooo good! Amy made cucumber sandwiches, proscuitto, basil and mozzarella bagel sandwiches, endive, walnut and blood orange bites, homemade shortbread cookies, eclairs, brownies and homemade scones. It was all so fancy and girly and just lovely!

After our toes and fingers were beautiful, we went back to Laina's for some drinks. Here's a picture of Rachel and her berry soda in a champagne class. Isn't she cute?
Then we changed clothes and drove downtown for dinner at Mondo's Saloon. It was a great place with chips and salsa, unique margaritas, and a full menu with vegetarian options for Angie. We all just sat and talked for several hours at dinner and then decided to head back to Laina's house for the remainder of the evening. Even though we'd all brought snack foods and plenty of bottles of wine and liquor, we ended up being so stuffed that we didn't open any of them. We all put on our PJs and cozied up in Laina's living room and reminisced about the old days at Simpson. There were plenty of stories about our kids, Tri Delta, Emily's upcoming wedding, baby names, reality TV, ghosts, old Simspon classmates, food, our husbands/boyfriends/fiances, and work. And before we knew it, it was midnight and we were all slowly starting to fall asleep.
Sunday morning Laina made crepes for breakfast (which were awesome!!) and we all just chatted some more, packed up and headed home. It was a fun 24 hours spent with five friends I don't see nearly enough.
Here's a picture of the 6 of us in our pajamas Sunday morning. Nevermind the bed head and absense of makeup!
