Bowling!

Last Saturday we took Carter bowling at Val Lanes. We had only taken him bowling one other time last winter, and so we didn't know quite what to expect. Here's what we learned:
-Kids bowling shoes are ADORABLE and come as small as size 6!
-2 year-olds want to touch the balls as they come rolling in, no matter how many times you warn them that their fingers will get pinched.
-At Val Lanes, when it's the child's turn to bowl, the bumpers automatically come up. Sweet!
-The ball ramps work like a charm and make bowling so much easier for the little ones.
-If you put a ball on the ramp and walk away, it will start rolling by itself!
-It's awfully frustrating that you don't get to roll the ball over and over and over again...that you actually have to give someone else a turn.
-It's easiest to just let the little one roll the ball every single time, no matter who's turn it is. Forget about a little friendly competition between husband and wife when a toddler is playing. (See the previous statement...)
-You don't actually need to watch the ball to see how many pins are knocked down. Just push it down the ramp, turn around and walk back to wait for your ball to come back. Pins? What pins?
-After rolling the ball down the lane non-stop for 5 frames, it's time to check out the rest of the bowling alley...like the foose ball tables and trinket machines. At that point, the game is done!
