Decorah!

A couple weekends ago, Holly and I made a quick trip to Decorah with the kids to visit Tony, Kelly, Davis and Bennett. The weather was cool and dreary, but we made the most of it. There was nothing on the agenda other than some quality time for the cousins. Mission accomplished!

We went for a nice, long walk on a cool trail.

We were happy Aunt Kelly remembered to pack snacks and juice boxes.

After afternoon naps, play time at Tony and Kelly's house, and a trip to the park, we were all happy to see Uncle Tony return from work. And he was anxious to take the boys on a mushroom hunt!

The boys found a ton of mushrooms, and apparently each boy found at least one on their own. They were gone for more than an hour and came back covered in mud. Obviously, they had a great time! After dinner, Kelly and Holly surprised me with a little shower. They gave me a new maternity t-shirt and a gift certificate to Cheesecake Factory (for Cary too!), and had cupcakes from Cupcake Pattiserie. So sweet and unexpected!
After eating our share of cupcakes, it was time for s'mores! We love our sweets!
Once we'd all had a good night's sleep, we had breakfast, the girls went to a local coffee shop and to a fabric store, and then we headed for home. It was a great, relaxing weekend! Just what we all needed!

Here's what I learned about Carter while we were gone:
-He is capable of sleeping in the same bed as his mom and not rolling out or keeping her awake.
-He does not want to share any of the toys that he's playing with...especially not Thomas the train.
-He says that his favorite part of the weekend was mushroom hunting with Uncle Tony.
-He's a bit of a loner. The older three boys play so well together and just love each other so much. Carter is just young enough that he's content playing with his cars or trains. And when he decides that he does want to play with the boys, he's about 10 steps behind them. He'll get there soon enough.
-He LOVES fried mushrooms.
-He does NOT want Uncle Tony to hold, touch, or eat his s'more. Back off!
-He likes riding in the backseat with Joey and Maddox, as long as he doesn't have to share his toys.
-He's happy to get home and see his daddy again!

It looks like you all had a fun trip to Decorah! I can't believe how big all the boys are getting. :)
