January Happenings

Here are just a few things that we've been up to this past week.  (All of the photos are from my phone...sorry for the blurriness.)

Carter's First Field Trip
On Wednesday, I went with Carter's 3 year-old preschool class to the Windsor Heights Fire Station.  They had been learning about community helpers, so the fire station was the perfect place to visit.  Carter's class only has 8 students in it, and Sully was sick that day, so here are Carter and 6 of his classmates.  I was glad to get to go and observe our little man in action.  Let's just say that I was pretty surprised by the way he acted.  I expected him to be loud, ask alot of (non-relavant) questions, and be basically bouncing off the walls.  Instead, he was sooo quiet, really clingy to me, and actually pretty spacey.  It was strange to see him so different than he is at home.  It's been a bit eye-opening for us to think that parenting school-aged kids is going to be so different than babies and toddlers.

Carter's 4 year-old Check-Up
We were a little late getting this scheduled, but Carter had his 4 year-old appointment last week.  I was so proud of him as he did exactly what Dr. DeVries asked, answered all of her questions, told her that he loves healthy snacks (that may have been a bit of an exaggeration from him), and hopped right up on the table, knowing that he was about to get 3 shots.  He didn't really like having to stand in only his underwear, so he opted to wear this kid-sized gown instead.  He couldn't have been any cuter!

And finally there was enough snow on the ground for us to try out the new sled the kids got for Christmas.  We didn't stay outside very long, but Carter LOVED being whipped around the yard on his sled.  Brynn wasn't quite sure what to think, but she seemed to like it.

Little Miss has really started to love her babies.  They are the first toys she grabs in the morning and she even sleeps with a baby now too.  We have about 6 different baby dolls in the house, and she doesn't show a preference to one over the other.  She has the same routine when playing with the babies.  First, she finds the baby's blanket and carries it over to the step into our living room.  Then she tries to lay the blanket out flat.  This usually takes about 20 different tries...but she's determined to get it "just right."  Then she walks back over to the babies, chooses one, and carries it (usually by the leg) to the blanket.  She lays the baby down on the blanket, picks it back up, and then carries it back across the room again.  This can go on for a good 30 minutes.  She also loves to push the babies in the stroller.  The more the merrier and usually they are upside down.

Happy Saturday everyone!  In the last 15 minutes, my kids have cried because they both wanted to push the baby stroller and now they both are playing Chuggington trains.  They adapt well to each others' interests, I guess! :)
