It was a nice, long weekend and I feel like we accomplished alot and saw many of our friends and family. That's what I call a great weekend! (And unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera with me all weekend!)
Thursday was my birthday. 29. Cary, the kids and I went to The Tavern for pizza, opened presents, ate the cake (okay, actually it was brownies) that Cary and Carter made for me, and then went on a nice, long walk. Perfect way to spend the evening.
Friday morning, Maddox came over to play while Joey went to the dentist. Carter and Maddox played so well together. They spent a ton of time in Carter's room, sitting on a sleeping bag, listening to an audio book. But of course, they played Super heros, trains, chase the cat, chase the dog, and basketball. They're buddies.
Friday afternoon, my mom picked up Carter and Brynn and took them to Guthrie. So what did I do with my free time? A nap and then the mall. Oh yeah. I didn't buy a thing, but had fun looking around and taking my sweet time without entertaining two little ones.
At 5:00, Cary and I met for an appetizer and drink...just like old times after work on Fridays. We ended up having dinner at a new restaurant in Beaverdale. We just sat, talked, ate and drank until 10:00. We pretended for about 15 minutes that we were going to head downtown and hit up the bars. But soon were honest with ourselves and decided that a good night's sleep sounded AMAZING. So we headed home.
Saturday morning was rainy, so we opted to go out for breakfast rather than head to the Farmer's Market. After breakfast, we went to Guthrie to spend time with my parents. My brother's family was there too, so it was fun to see Claire and Brynn together (both sitting up and smiling and starting to notice each other). And Carter and Katelyn loved driving the jeep around the yard with our neighbor and cousin Charlie. That was definitely the highlight of their day! We had lunch together, sat and chatted while the kids took naps, and then we went out on the boat with my parents. It was a little chilly, but so nice to be out on the water this year!
Sunday we just hung out at home. We checked out Joe and Holly's bathroom re-do, which looked great! Then Cary did some serious yard work (like, cut down a ton of trees) in the afternoon. Sunday night we went to Sean and Jess's house for a BBQ. Griffin and Mac were there too, so Carter and Brynn had some playmates! It was really fun and laid-back and just a nice night.
Yesterday we spent some time in the yard and then went to see Brett and Jenny's new baby girl, Harper Grace. So sweet! She was born on Saturday and makes Brynn look like a giant. After lunch and naps, we went to Cary's parents for a BBQ. Carter, Joey and Maddox played in the pool and ran through the sprinkler. Cary and Kyle played Home Run Derby and attacked each other with water balloons. And by 7:00 last night, everyone was exhausted and ready for baths and bed.
A day and a half left of school! After that fun weekend, I feel like summer is officially here! :)
